What this does
Payroll work happens on your computer. The app uses the internet only for the reasons below. Nothing else is sent. No payroll data goes to SeroPayroll, except encrypted sync data if you use the Cloud add-on.
The list
- Account. Creating an account, confirming the email code, signing in and out, resetting a password, and refreshing your plan and computers. It sends your account details. It does not send company data.
- Licence check-in. When you activate, and each time the app starts online. It sends the key identifier, a computer identifier, the computer name, the platform and the app version. Removing a key tells the service so the seat is freed.
- Revocation list. Once each time the app starts online, it fetches a signed list of withdrawn keys. It sends no data about you.
- Trial and resend. When you press Start 14-day free trial or Lost your key? Resend. A trial request sends your email, the computer identifier and, if known, the employer's business number. Saving a business number under a trial tells the service so one employer gets one trial.
- Buy and renew. Opens a page on the SeroPayroll website in your browser.
- Tax tables. When you choose Check for updates, or if you turned on checking at start-up. It downloads a public list and files. It sends no licence, company or employee data. See Tax tables and updates.
- App update. The installed Windows app looks for a newer version when it starts and about once an hour. It sends no company data.
- Cloud sync. Only with the Cloud add-on, and only for companies you put in the cloud. Records are encrypted on your computer first.
- Email. When you press send on stubs, the app connects to your own mail server. It is not a SeroPayroll server.
What never leaves
- Employee, pay and banking data, unless you use Cloud sync (encrypted).
- Your company password and recovery key.
- Reports, slips and filings. You file them yourself.
Good to know
- Without the add-on, no sync request is made.
