What this does
The app ships with a signed tax table for each tax year. You can install newer tables, such as January tables for a new year, July mid-year editions and corrected reissues.
See what is in force
- Go to Settings › Tax tables.
- Under Tables on this device, each line says "{year} tables, edition {edition}", where it came from (Shipped with the app or Installed update), and Signature verified.
- The status is In force, Replaced by a newer edition, or Not used with the reason.
For each tax year, the newest edition whose signature verifies is used.
Check for updates
- Choose Check for updates.
- The app downloads the public list of tax tables from the SeroPayroll downloads site. No licence, company or employee data is sent.
- If a newer edition exists, it shows the date and "Replaces edition {edition}".
- Choose Install. The message says "Installed the {year} tables, edition {edition}. They are in force now."
If nothing is new: "Your tax tables are up to date."
Check automatically
Tick Check for new tables when the app opens. It is off by default. The app checks once on each open, and the dashboard says when new tables are available. Nothing is installed without you.
Remove an installed edition
Choose Remove. The shipped tables, or an older installed edition, are used for that year again. Pays already calculated keep their figures.
Why a file is refused
A file is installed only if it is signed by a key this version trusts and matches the list's size and checksum. A refused file is named with the reason, such as unsigned, altered or the wrong year. The dashboard counts files that failed the check.
Good to know
- This page is one of the few places the app uses the network.
- "Not yet checked against the CRA calculator" appears on tables that have not been reconciled.
- If the tables cannot load, no pay can be calculated.
- A file that needs a newer version of SeroPayroll says so.
