Use your own model

What this does

You can run Maya's features on an AI provider account you already have. Requests go straight from this computer to your provider. SeroPayroll's servers are not involved, there is no message limit from SeroPayroll, and your provider bills you.

You do not need the Maya add-on for this. You need an admin of the company.

Set it up

1. Open Settings › AI › Model.
2. Choose My own model (bring your own key).
3. Pick the Provider. The list has OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, Anthropic, Groq, Mistral, Google Gemini and Another OpenAI-compatible server.
4. Paste the Endpoint exactly as your provider's portal shows it: the bare address, a base, or the full request address with its query string. Any shape works. When you press Test connection or Use for this company, the app reads it, fills the deployment or model name and the API version if the address carries them, and switches the provider if the address belongs to another one than you picked. It then shows "Address read as …" under the buttons. If the first shape answers "not found", the app tries the provider's other known shape and keeps the one that answers. For Azure you can also just replace <resource> with your resource name.
5. For Azure OpenAI, enter the API version and, in Deployment name, your deployment, unless the address already filled them in. For the others, enter the Model name.
6. Enter the API key. It is kept in this computer's secure storage, never in the company file.
7. Leave This model is capable (7B parameters or more) on, unless your model is small.
8. Press Test connection. The app sends a short fixed request with nothing from any company and reports "Connected to {model} in {ms} ms."
9. Press Use for this company.

If AI is already on, the app shows the data statement for your provider. Read it, tick the box and press Turn on.

What this model can do

Under What this model can do, each feature shows Runs, Runs, with a limit or Does not run on this model, with the reason:

• "answers are checked against the form after": the model does not take the answer's form directly. The app checks each answer and asks once more to repair it.
• "reads text only, not page images": TD1 forms and letters are read from their text.
• "needs a model that calls tools": the prepare-only agents need tool calls.

Good to know

• Keys travel only over https. An http:// address works only on this computer or your own network.
• The choice is saved in the company file and travels with it. The key does not. On another computer, enter the key again.
• Tick Also make this the starting choice for other companies on this computer to use the same model when you turn AI on in another company.
• Your agreement with the provider decides what it keeps. Under Quebec's Law 25, check where it runs the model.
