What this does
Settings › Company holds the details that appear on slips, returns, remittances and letters.
Business
- Go to Settings › Company.
- Under Business, enter Legal name, Operating name, Province of main establishment, Address, City, Postal code, Payroll contact, Email and Phone.
- Set Fiscal year starts in and Usual pay frequency.
The payroll contact name, phone (10 digits) and email are needed for the T4A return.
CRA
- Enter the Business number (9 digits).
- If the number fails the usual check digit, the app warns you: "Make sure it matches your CRA records."
- Under CRA payroll accounts, choose Add a payroll account. Enter the Payroll account RP reference (for example 0001), the Account name, the Remitter type and turn on Default account for the main one.
Your payroll account appears on CRA remittance vouchers as 123456789RP0001. Add more accounts if you remit under several. The remitter type sets your remittance schedule. See CRA remittances (PD7A).
Dental benefits code
Under Dental benefits code offered (T4 box 45), pick the code that applies to everyone whose record does not set its own. It is printed on the T4 and filed in the XML.
Revenu Québec
Needed only if employees work in Quebec. Enter the Identification number (10 digits), File number and Transmitter number.
Reduced EI employer rate
If you have an employer EI premium reduction plan, enter the Reduced EI employer rate and the Service Canada decision reference. Then tick the covered employees on their Pay tab.
Good to know
- A business number saved under a trial can refuse the trial if that employer already had one.
- A CRA account used by pay groups cannot be deleted.
- Edits made to this form are kept as a draft until saved.
