What this does
Maya is the name of the assistant and of every AI feature in SeroPayroll: Ask Maya, the explanations on the review step, the column suggestions on imports, letter drafts and the rest. Maya explains, suggests, drafts and reads. The engine still calculates every amount, and a person accepts every suggestion.
AI features are off until an admin turns them on in Settings › AI for each company. Turning them on shows the data statement first.

Where Maya runs
Settings › AI › Model has three choices:
- Maya (included with the add-on, runs on our servers). Nothing to set up. Needs the Maya add-on on your licence.
- My own model (bring your own key). See Use your own model.
- A model on this computer. See Use a model on this computer.
Whichever you choose, names, SINs, bank numbers, dates of birth, emails, phone numbers and addresses are replaced on this computer before anything is sent.
Messages
The Maya add-on costs $100 a year and includes 100 Maya messages a month. A trial licence includes 20 messages a month. Without the add-on, a paid licence gets 20 messages a month for the assistant and the two import suggestions.
Some tasks count as more than one message:
- A question, a column mapping or a classification is 1 message.
- An explanation is 2.
- A letter draft is 3. One step of an agent is 3.
- Reading a document or an agency letter is 5. The digest across companies is 5.
Settings › AI shows "{used} of {limit} Maya messages used this month, resets on {date}." The count starts again on the first day of each month. If a task needs more messages than are left, the app says "This month's Maya messages are used up. They reset on {date}." and nothing is sent. Every screen keeps its manual path.
Buy more
Press Buy more under the count on Settings › AI. The storefront opens in your browser with your plans. When you are signed in to your account, it opens signed in.
Good to know
- With your own model or a model on this computer, there is no message limit. Settings › AI says "No message limit: this company uses its own model."
- The count belongs to the licence, not to the company. Every company on the licence uses the same 100 messages.
- Settings › AI › Suggestions and what was sent lists each suggestion and the exact data that left this computer.
