Cheques

Print pay cheques with a stub, choose the layout, number them, and void or reprint one.

What this does

SeroPayroll prints a cheque for each employee who is paid by cheque. The cheque page has the cheque and a pay stub on it. Printing gives each cheque a number.

Set the layout and the next number

  1. Go to Settings › Cheques.
  2. Choose the Cheque position: Top, Middle or Bottom. A page preview shows "cheque at the {position}".
  3. Enter the Next cheque number.
  4. Save.

The MICR line is blank by default. Use pre-printed cheque stock.

  1. Go to Payments and pick the run.
  2. Open the Cheques tab.
  3. Tick the cheques, and enter the First cheque number if needed.
  4. Choose Print cheques, or Save PDF.
  5. The message says "{count} cheques numbered from {first}".

Printing assigns the cheque number and marks the cheque sent. A used number is never reused.

Issued cheques

Under Issued cheques, each row has a menu:

  • Print again. The same number.
  • Reprint on a new number. The old cheque is voided and the next number is printed in its place.
  • Void cheque. The number stays in the history. The payment goes back to the list to print again. A reason is required.

Good to know

  • The cheque shows the payee, the amount, the date, a memo, a signature line and an employee copy and employer copy of the stub with current and year-to-date amounts.
  • Names with accents print correctly.
  • Only a printed cheque can be voided or marked cleared.
  • Cheques are not available under a trial licence.
