The Payments screen

Where deposits, cheques and e-transfers for a paid run are made, and what each payment status means.

What this does

The Payments screen turns a paid pay run into something your bank can use. It lists the deposits, cheques and e-transfers of one run. SeroPayroll makes the file or the cheque. It does not send money for you.

Steps

  1. Pay a run first: Pay Runs, open the run, Pay step, Mark paid.
  2. Go to Payments.
  3. Pick the Pay run. The list shows "Paid {date} · {start} to {end}".
  4. Use the tabs: Deposits, Cheques, E-transfer and Batch history.
  5. The cheque register has its own button at the top right. See Cheque register.

If no run is paid, the screen says "No paid runs yet."

Which way an employee is paid

  • An employee with a bank account is paid by direct deposit.
  • An employee with no bank account is paid by cheque. The review warned you.
  • Employees paid by e-transfer appear on the e-transfer list.
  • A deposit can be split across several accounts.

Payment statuses

  • Pending. Not yet in a file.
  • In a file. In a deposit file that is not yet marked sent.
  • Sent. The file or cheque went out.
  • Cleared. A cheque was cashed.
  • Void.

Good to know

  • Before the first deposit file, set up your bank profile. See Bank originator setup.
  • A read-only licence can still make files for runs approved before it stopped.
  • A trial licence cannot make files or cheques. See What a trial cannot do.
  • Payment screens write to the company file and check your role.
