What this does
With a trial you can set up a company, enter employees, calculate and approve pay runs, and see every screen. You cannot use the results to pay real people or to file.
What is switched off
These buttons stay visible but are disabled. They show "Trial licence: available with a paid plan" and a Buy link:
- Direct deposit files (new, test and download again).
- Cheques (issue, print, save and reprint).
- The e-transfer list.
- T4 and T4A XML files, ROE Web files and their re-saves.
- The accounting journal export (CSV and IIF).
- Remittance CSV files for bank portals.
What is marked
Everything else that you print or save carries the mark TRIAL ACCOUNT – NOT FOR FILING:
- Every PDF has the mark across each page and a footer naming the trial key. This includes stubs, T4, T4A, RL-1, ROE, remittance summaries, payee remittances and reports.
- CSV and XLSX report exports start with that line.
- Stub emails get "[TRIAL]" in the subject and a not-for-filing line.
- Run stubs, year-end, ROE, the remittance page and reports show the same note on screen.
When you buy
- Buy a plan. See Buy a plan, renew and manage seats.
- The paid key activates. No restart is needed.
- The switched-off buttons turn on.
- Make the documents again from the same data. They print clean. Documents made earlier keep their mark.
Good to know
- An expired trial still counts as a trial.
- The mark text is in English only.
- Employees limit: 25. Company limit: 1.
