What this does
A banner at the top of the app tells you when your licence needs attention. When a licence cannot allow work, the app opens in read-only mode. You never lose access to your data.
The banners
- Renewal. "Your licence expires on {date}". It shows from 30 days before the end date. Choose Renew or Remind me tomorrow.
- Trial. "Free trial: N days left". Choose Choose a plan.
- Not activated. Activate a licence to use SeroPayroll.
- Expired. "Licence expired on {date}". The app is read-only.
- Withdrawn (revoked). The key was refunded or reported as shared. The app is read-only. Paste a new key.
- Check-in overdue. The app could not confirm the key online for 30 days. Connect to the internet and choose Check in now.
- Computers full. The key is in use on all the computers it allows. Deactivate one, or buy a seat.
- Clock moved back. This device's clock moved backwards by more than a day. Check the date and time, then paste your key again to confirm.
What read-only allows
- Open companies, view everything, print and export.
- Back up and restore.
- Pay out pay runs that were approved before the licence stopped: direct deposit files, cheques, the e-transfer list and the cheque register.
What read-only blocks
- Starting or calculating pay runs, approving them, and filing.
- Year-end filings, Records of Employment and the earnings review fix.
- Changes to payment originators, cheque settings and remittance schedules.
Get out of read-only
- Fix the cause: renew, deactivate a computer, connect to the internet, or fix the clock.
- Choose Check in now on the banner, or go to Settings › Licence.
- Or paste a new key.
Good to know
- A new key pasted at any time restores full mode.
- A key that is revoked cannot be activated again.
- Limits on companies and employees are only reminders. They never stop payroll that is already set up.
