What this does
The Windows version comes as one MSIX package. Windows installs it, registers it, and lets it update itself in the background.
Steps
- Download SeroPayroll.msix from the SeroPayroll website.
- Open the file. Windows App Installer opens and shows "Sero Technologies" as the publisher.
- Choose Install. No extra certificate step is needed.
- Start SeroPayroll from the Start menu.
- Sign in or create an account. See Create an account and confirm your email.
Files that open SeroPayroll
The package registers these file types:
- .spr is a company file. Older .spay company files open the same way.
- .serokey is an activation key file.
Double-click a .serokey file to start SeroPayroll with that key. You must be signed in for the key to activate. See Activation keys and .serokey files.
Updates
- When a newer version exists, Update to SeroPayroll {version} appears in Settings.
- The update downloads and installs quietly. Your data is not touched.
- Choose Restart to update. SeroPayroll closes and opens again. Save your work first.
If the quiet install does not work, the Windows installer opens instead.
Good to know
- The app looks for an update when it starts and about once an hour. See What leaves your computer, and when.
- Only the installed MSIX package updates itself.
- Your company files are not inside the program. An update never changes them.
