Cheque register

A list of every cheque by number, with void, cleared and the next number.

On this page

What this does

The cheque register lists every cheque number the company has written. You use it to void a cheque, mark one cleared and set the next number.

Open it

  1. Go to Payments.
  2. Choose the cheque register button at the top right of the page. Its tooltip is Cheque register.

The heading shows "Next cheque #{number}". The list can be filtered, for example All ({count}).

Mark a cheque cleared

  1. Find the cheque by number.
  2. Choose Mark cleared.
  3. The message says "Cheque #{number} marked cleared".

Void a cheque

  1. Find the cheque.
  2. Choose Void cheque.
  3. Give a reason.

The number stays in the register and in the audit log. The payment goes back to the Cheques tab to print again.

Change the next number

Use the Next cheque number setting. It is also in Settings › Cheques. A number that was written is never reused.

Good to know

  • Cheques appear in the register once a run's cheques are printed. Before that it says "No cheques written yet."
  • The register is written when a cheque is issued, voided or cleared.
  • A read-only licence still allows the register for runs approved before the licence stopped.
  • Under a trial licence, cheques cannot be issued.
