What this does

Putting a company in the cloud sends a full copy of its records, sealed on your computer, to the sync service. Other computers can then join it.

Before you start

  • Your licence must carry the Cloud add-on.
  • Sign in to Cloud sync. See Sign in to Cloud sync.
  • You must be an admin of the company.

Steps

  1. Open the company.
  2. Go to Settings › Cloud sync.
  3. Under This company, read "This company is on this device only."
  4. Choose Put this company in the cloud.
  5. Enter the Company file password. The app checks it against the open file.
  6. Confirm.
  7. The message says "This company is now in the cloud."

What the password does

The company file password makes the key that every computer of this company uses. People can join a new computer with the company password. Keep the password safe. The sync service cannot reset it.

After it is in the cloud

The page shows Last sent, Last received, Changes waiting to send, Conflicts to review and Last error, plus Sync now, Review conflicts and Save a standalone copy.

Good to know

  • A later change of the local password does not change the cloud key.
  • If the account has no licence bound yet, the first company you upload binds this licence to the account.
  • Without an active Cloud licence, the page says "Putting a company in the cloud needs an active cloud-edition licence."
  • The first send can take a while for a large company.
