Invite people and join a cloud company

What this does

The owner of a cloud company can share it. Each person who joins gets their own encrypted copy of the company file on their computer.

Invite someone

1. Go to Settings › Cloud sync. Under Shared with, choose Invite someone.
2. Enter Their email and choose a Role: Owner, Accountant, Editor or Viewer.
3. Choose Create invite.
4. Read the Invite code. It is shown only now, and the sync service never sees it.
5. Send the code to the person yourself, by text message or phone if you can.

The list then shows Waiting, expires {date} or Joined.

You must be an admin and the company's owner to invite.

Join

1. On the Welcome screen, or in Settings › Cloud sync, choose Join a cloud company.
2. Sign in with the email the invite was sent to.
3. Pick Invite code and enter the code. Or, if you are already a member, pick Company password and the company.
4. Enter the Password for the file on this device. It protects the file on this computer. It can differ from the company password. Use at least 8 characters.
5. Choose Join.
6. Save the recovery key. It opens the file here if the password is forgotten.

The roles

• Owner. Can invite, and everything else.
• Accountant and Editor. Can read and change.
• Viewer. Can read only. Cannot send changes or take a lease on a pay run.

Good to know

• Invite codes expire. Create a new one if needed.
• The invited person needs no licence of their own to join.
• The sync service cannot read the invite code.
• A member who knows the company password can also join a new computer without an invite.
