What this does
The Add employee wizard collects everything needed to pay someone. You can leave steps out and finish them later on the employee's page.
Steps
- Go to Employees and choose Add employee. On a company with no employees you can also choose Add an employee on the dashboard.
- Identity. Enter First name, Last name, Employee number, Social insurance number, Date of birth, Language, contact details, address and Province of residence. A SIN that starts with 9 is a temporary SIN. The wizard reminds you to check its expiry date.
- Employment. Enter the Hire date, Province of employment, Pay group, Department, Location, Occupation and Standard hours per week. The province of employment decides income tax, CPP or QPP, EI or QPIP and employment standards.
- Pay. Choose Pay type (Salary or Hourly) and enter the Annual salary or Hourly rate. Set vacation pay, statutory holidays and overtime.
- Tax (TD1). Enter the federal and provincial claim amounts. Choose Update from a TD1 for a guided entry. See The Tax tab.
- Direct deposit. Enter the bank details, or choose Add direct deposit later.
- Review. Check the details and choose Save employee.
