What this does
The Banking tab holds the employee's bank accounts for direct deposit. Without an account, the employee is paid by cheque or e-transfer.
Add an account
- Open the employee and choose the Banking tab.
- Choose Add account.
- Enter Institution (3 digits), Transit (5 digits), Account number and Account holder.
- Under Receives, choose how much goes to this account:
- The rest of the net pay
- A percentage, then Percent of net pay
- A fixed amount, then Amount per pay
- Save.
Split pay between accounts
Add a second account. Give the first a fixed amount or a percentage, and let the other receive the rest of the net pay. Accounts are kept in the order you added them.
Change or remove an account
Open the account. The account number shows masked, for example the last digits only. Type a new number only to change it. Choose Remove to take an account away.
See a full account number
- Choose Show beside the number.
- If the company has no users, enter the company file password.
- If the company has users, an administrator enters their PIN.
- The number shows. The History tab records who asked and who approved.
Good to know
- A bank account number is never saved in a draft.
- Void cheques and other proof can be kept on the Documents tab.
- Direct deposit files use these accounts. See Direct deposit files (CPA-005).
- Roles: Payroll users cannot see full bank numbers. Read-only users cannot either.
