What this does
When a period had no pay, CRA and Revenu Québec may still expect a nil remittance to be reported. SeroPayroll lists these periods so you do not miss them.
Steps
- Go to Remittances.
- Find a row marked Nil or "nil remittance to report".
- Open it. The page says "No pay in this period. Report a nil remittance to {agency} by phone or online; nothing is paid. Mark it reported once done."
- Report it to the agency.
- Choose Mark reported.
- Enter the date and any confirmation number. The status becomes Reported.
Which periods are listed
- For CRA, one row for each payroll account that has had pays. The periods run from the first pay to today.
- For Revenu Québec, rows appear when a Revenu Québec number is on file.
- The dashboard shows "Nil remittance to report by {date}".
Good to know
- If you later enter a pay dated in a nil period, the row becomes an ordinary remittance.
- A nil row has no amount to pay.
- Your agency decides if a nil report is needed for your account. Follow its letter.
- Mark reported can be reopened.
