What this does

The Review and approve step shows each employee's pay in detail. Warnings point out anything to look at before you approve.

Review the run

  1. After you calculate, open Review and approve.
  2. The top shows Gross pay, Taxes, CPP, EI, Other deductions, Net pay and Employer costs.
  3. A line such as "3 of 12 employees have something to look at" counts the warnings.
  4. Use the filters All and With warnings.
  5. Open an employee to see earnings, Taxes and statutory deductions, deductions and Employer costs.

The warnings

  • Deduction not fully taken. Net pay could not cover it.
  • CPP/EI shortfall (PIER). A review of the year so far would assess about that amount. See Earnings review (PIER).
  • Missing SIN.
  • Negative net pay.
  • Yearly maximum reached. CPP, EI or another plan reached its maximum on this pay.
  • Not calculated. The employee could not be priced.
  • No hourly rate. Add one on the employee's Pay tab.
  • No statutory holiday rule or no overtime rule for the province.
  • Overtime is banked for this employee, so hours were not split.
  • No bank account on file; paid by cheque.
  • An employer levy could not be priced, or vacation pay could not be priced.
  • Court order limited. The order took less than demanded. See Court orders and garnishments on an employee.
  • Correction capped at the annual maximum. A later pay already reached the maximum.

Good to know

  • Warnings do not stop you from approving, except lines that were not calculated and records held in conflict.
  • Fix the cause on the employee, then choose Calculate again.
  • To pay everyone else while one employee is sorted out, use Hold. See Hold an employee.
