Pay runs

Start a regular pay run

Use the New pay run wizard to pick a pay group, check the period and choose who is paid.

What this does

A regular run pays a pay group for its next period. The wizard sets up the run, then opens the run page where you enter hours.

Steps

  1. Go to Pay Runs and choose New pay run. You can also press Ctrl+N.
  2. Kind and pay group. Under "What are you paying?" choose Regular pay. Pick the Pay group.
  3. Period and pay date. The wizard shows the group's next period. Change the Pay date if it falls differently this time. Tax uses the year of the pay date.
  4. Employees. Everyone current in the group is ticked. Untick anyone who is not paid this period. Use Select all or Select none.
  5. Choose Create run.

The run page opens at Hours and earnings.

If a pay group has no one

The wizard says "Nobody in this pay group yet". Put employees in the group on their Employment tab.

If there is no pay group

Pay runs need a pay group first. Choose Add a pay group, or go to Settings › Pay groups. See Pay groups, departments and locations.

Good to know

  • Inactive employees are left out. The wizard tells you how many.
  • You can add an employee later with Add employees, or take one out with Take an employee out. Their hours in this run are discarded.
  • The Payroll calendar shows the next pay dates. Choose a pay date there to start the run. See The payroll calendar.
  • On the dashboard, "Next pay dates" shows each group's next period.
